New Year’s Resolutions

The end of another year. This has been the year I have least worked on what I have wanted, which is why I am making employment changes (per an earlier post)…

For 2012, I resolve to do the following things:

  1. Schedule time to write six days a week. Even if it is not for long (on some days), I need to make sure I am in the habit of writing everyday.
  2. Devote quality time to my writing. Although it is important to write frequently, it is also important to write for long periods. Ten minutes a day won’t get many things finished!
  3. Be more intentional about building a network of people with similar ambitions and goals. Who knows who I can help in their careers, and who can help me.
  4. Speaking of finishing things, I need to finish what I start, instead of skipping around different projects.
  5. Get a short film made.
  6. Enter at least two screenwriting competitions.
  7. Exercise more regularly! I know I won’t get back to my peak shape from my early twenties, but I can certainly get part of the way there!

I am sure things will pop up that seek to break these resolutions, but if I print them out and put them somewhere visible (and maybe keep changing the position of the print-out so I don’t just tune it out) I think it will help.

Here’s to a great 2012, and I hope it treats you as well, if not better than, 2011.

Happy New Year!
